In response to students' demand for more on-campus social activities that cater to the college crowd, the College is now promoting responsible alcoholic drinking five nights a week for those who are 21 or older. Starting this semester, the Pub in Hogan basement will be open Tuesday through Saturday, from the hours of 9:00 P.
On Thursday, February 2, Eric Starkman, President and founder of Starkman & Associates, spoke to a room full of eager Holy Cross students who are interested in pursuing a career in public relations. Since 2004, he has been closely connected to the College by hosting interns through the College's selective Summer Internship Program.
After a disappointing 2010-2011 season, the Holy Cross Moot Court team re-assumed its place among the elite moot court programs, finishing 17th in the nation (top 7%) and earning several individual awards as well. The team, comprised of Robert LiCalzi, ‘12, and Andrew Emerson, ‘14, competed over MLK weekend at the 2012 National Tournament which presented them with the challenge of navigating largest field of competitors in collegiate Moot Court history.
This issue of The Crusader is one I meet with bittersweet welcome. Hereby deemed "The Father McFarland Issue," this week's paper is a respite from the not-always-interesting news that usually fills it by celebrating Father McFarland and marking the end of an era in Holy Cross' history in which he presided.
Henry Miller, an American novelist and playwright, once said, "One's destination is never a place, but rather a new way of seeing things." Being only one short week away from reaching a destination of my own – that is, graduation – I can easily recognize that my way of seeing things has most assuredly been altered in the past four years I have spent at Holy Cross.
I would love to preface this piece by extending my sincerest thanks and appraisals to Father McFarland for his modest aura, his charisma, and ultimately for being an exemplary human being—embodying the values upon which we, the crusaders, take pride in.
