If you’re looking for a cool new local restaurant to try, check out Evo on 234 Chandler Street. The restaurant features a huge, all-organic menu with everything from gluten-free and vegan specialties to stone-baked pizzas and ciabatta sandwiches, an array of quesadillas and mac ‘n’ cheese dishes, salads, and tons of interesting appetizers.
For an appetizer, I tried the calamari fire fries, which were basically spicy fried calamari served with fried jalapeño peppers and an aioli dipping sauce. It was a unique and delicious take on classic fried calamari. For my meal I ordered the Greek pizza, which was made with Evo’s own Golden Ale dough—it was crispy and flavorful, a sort of combination between thin crust and thicker dough. It was topped with sundried tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, artichokes, kalamata olives, fresh basil, and shaved romano cheese. The pizza was deliciously simple, and the ingredients tasted fresh.
For those that are 21+, the drink menu, too, is comprehensive and creative. Featuring both classic favorites like margaritas and gin and tonics, and seasonal cocktails like hot chocolate spiked with Goldschlager, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
The atmosphere at Evo is casual and inviting, with some fun and unique touches—a fish tank with neon fish on the reception desk, silver beads hanging from the ceiling, and a light up water-wall behind the bar. All in all, Evo is definitely a place to put on your list for the next time you’re looking to try somewhere new.
