Let’s face it, who can say they don’t love a man in uniform? But who says that one can’t love a woman in uniform as well?
One of my favorite styles this season is military chic. If you’re trying to go for an aggressive, polished, yet sexy panache, military chic is perfect for you. Individuals often think that they have to wear camouflage clothing in order to pull off this look, but they don’t. In fact, wearing camouflage is cliché; it’s clear that you’re trying too hard.
How to do Military Chic:
1. Lace-Up Boots
A pair of these bad boys is completely ESSENTIAL! They give off the military effect and give you a mischievous facade.
You should always wear pants in order to pull of this style. I recommend jeggings, since their easier to slip into your lace-up boots, in black, brown, jean blue, or army green. Jeggings can be found in most apparel stores including Forever 21 and American Eagle (my favorite!!). Leather pants would also suffice if necessary.
3. NO SKIRTS OR
I said pants for a reason!!! Think about it, what woman have you seen in the military fighting in a skirt (formal events don’t count, that’s why they wear them for formal events)? Lace-up boots look cute with skirts and dresses, but that’s more for a rock & roll style; it’s not very military-esque.
4. White or Black Shirt
Stay simple! You don’t want to look like a hot mess. If there’s a design on it, make sure it’s capitulating and subtle.
It totally helps to enhance the aggressive persona.
6. High bun, slicked back mid-high ponytail, or loose hair
7. Moderate Jewelry
Big earrings would be okay if your hair is up. This outfit would go great with a long necklace too. But other than that, don’t be so excessive.
8. THE THREE F’S:
Stay Fabulous, Fierce, & Free.
Many celebrities have tried this look, like my darlings, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez. It’s so easy to pull off, and if you shop at the right places, you can buy all this clothing for under $100. If there’s someone in the armed forces you’re trying to impress, follow this list. If not, it still works for anyone. Besides, even if it doesn’t, one shouldn’t dress to impress (well, unless it’s for Oprah), but rather for herself, showing off her inner diva and self-confidence.
