The following is a list of positions on The Crusader staff along with their descriptions. These positions are open to all eligible Holy Cross students. Editor-in-Chief (2)
The editors-in-chief oversee the entire Crusader staff, meet weekly with advisors, work closely with Advertising and Business editors to manage the group's finances, write weekly columns, send each issue to press, attend the Student Government GA meetings and train new staff members.
Estimated hours per week: 10-20
Section Editors (2 per section: News, Opinions, Features, Sports)
The section editors are responsible for gathering and laying out their section's articles for each issue. The layout process is done toward the beginning of the week (Monday-Wednesday) on the editor's own schedule. Section editors are expected to fill their section each week without help from the editors-in-chief; this often means the section editors will also have to write articles. Section editors are expected to attend weekly staff meetings, finish laying out their sections by deadline, send their sections to copy-editors and be able to navigate QuarkXPress7 once they have been trained in this program.

Head Advertising Editor (1)
The advertising editor is the newspaper's primary connection to local advertisers and businesses; he/she is expected to maintain open lines of communication with them. This editor is expected to check the Crusader e-mail, voicemail and P.O. box daily and manage all potential advertisments that come through these mediums. The Ad editor is expected to prepare all advertisments to be placed within the sections by the Ad layout editors each Sunday evening or Monday morning, send out tear sheets to advertisers each Friday and to prepare all received payments to be deposited by the Business editor.

Advertising Layout Editors (2)
Ad layout editors are expected to come into the office and place each week's ads on Sunday evening or Monday morning. They should be familiar enough with QuarkXPress7 after training to be able to prepare a new blank issue for each section, place and save the ads. These editors are also expected to be able to scan images into the computer and work closely with the Head Advertising Editor as needed.

Web Design Editor (1)
The Web Design Editor is expected to maintain the Crusader website. He/she will gather all articles and PDFs from the section editors each week and put them online. This editor should be well-versed in online website publishing and willing to work with the editors-in-chief in order to improve its current appearance.

Business Editor (1)
The Business Editor manages all of the finances of the Crusader which include: paying bills, depositing both subscription and advertisment payments, keeping close records of all expenditures, and attending monthly SGA Reserve Board meetings. This editor should be able to work closely with both the Editors-in-chief and the Head Advertisment Editor.

Lead Copy Editor (2)
The Lead Copy Editors are expected to edit the sections for grammatical and spelling errors on a weekly basis. They will also be responsible for making the changes within QuarkXPress7 that each section's copy editor has provided. Each copy editor would be responsible for two sections of the paper but would edit all four sections if the other were unavailable. They would edit on Wednesday nights before the issue went to print.

Study Abroad/DC Editor (1)
The Study Abroad/DC Editor is responsible for collecting each week's abroad/DC column article. This editor should know a number of people studying abroad in various countries or in DC and should be willing to contact them and design a schedule for each semester.

Photographer (3)
The Crusader photographers are responsible for taking photos for each issue. They should be familiar with professional digital photography and available to be assigned to photograph campus and sporting events each week. Some previous photography experience necessary.
